Ingredients

4 large croissants

8 slices of smoked ham

8 slices of Swiss cheese

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Freshly cracked black pepper to taste

1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, Dijon mustard, honey (or maple syrup), garlic powder, and a pinch of black pepper until well combined.

Slice each croissant in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom piece.

Spread a generous layer of the butter mixture on the inside of each croissant half.

Layer 2 slices of smoked ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each croissant.

If desired, sprinkle chopped fresh chives over the cheese for added flavor.

Place the top half of the croissant back on, pressing gently to adhere.

Place the assembled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, seam side down.

Brush the tops of the croissants lightly with any remaining butter mixture.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before slicing in half for easier handling.
