Ingredients

4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and thinly sliced

2 large eggs

1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup Greek yogurt (plain, low-fat)

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (adjust to taste)

Pinch of salt

Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round 9-inch cake pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, applesauce, Greek yogurt, and honey (or maple syrup) until smooth and well combined.

In a separate bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until there are no lumps.

Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix – a few lumps are okay.

Gently fold in the sliced apples, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter. The apples should be the star of this cake!

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust the top lightly with powdered sugar if desired, for a touch of sweetness and elegance.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 50 minutes | Servings: 8

                      - Presentation Tips: Slice the cake into wedges and serve on a beautiful platter. Pair it with a dollop of Greek yogurt or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for added indulgence!
