Ingredients

1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted

1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 tablespoon red food coloring (adjust based on desired red color)

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

½ cup (45g) unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (170g) chocolate chips (optional for extra fudginess)

Cream cheese frosting (for topping, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9-inch (23x23 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Whisk together until well combined. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and red food coloring. Mix until smooth and incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. This ensures there are no lumps and that all ingredients are evenly distributed.

Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir using a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Do not overmix—small lumps are fine.

Add Chocolate Chips: If you’re using chocolate chips, fold them into the brownie batter at this stage, ensuring they are evenly distributed.

Pour into Pan: Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly with a spatula.

Bake: Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter).

Cool: Remove the brownies from the oven and let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, lift them out using the parchment overhang and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frost (optional): If desired, spread a generous layer of cream cheese frosting on top of the cooled brownies for an extra special touch.

Serve: Cut into squares, serve, and enjoy the fudgy goodness of these delightful red velvet brownies!
