Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 ½ cups chopped pecans (preferably toasted)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

½ cup maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Whisk together until well blended and set aside.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, mix in the vanilla extract.

Gradually alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the sugar mixture. Start and end with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

Fold in the chopped pecans gently to incorporate evenly throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, drizzle the maple syrup over the top of the bread for added sweetness and flavor before slicing.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes | Servings: 10-12 slices
