1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

2 large eggs

1/2 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)

1/4 cup cream cheese, softened (for frosting)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for frosting)

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tray with cupcake liners.

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

        Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

          Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.

            Gently fold in the finely chopped strawberries, being careful not to overmix.

              Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.

                Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

                  Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

                    For the frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing until creamy.

                      Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them generously with the cream cheese frosting.

                        Top each cupcake with a fresh strawberry for garnish.
