Ingredients

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons hoisin sauce

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon sesame oil

2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon cornstarch

1/4 cup water

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

In a medium mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Whisk together until fully blended.

Add sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, and brown sugar to the mixture. Continue whisking until the sugar dissolves completely.

In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this to the sauce mixture.

If you prefer a bit of heat, sprinkle in the red pepper flakes and mix well.

Pour the sauce into a saucepan and heat over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly, about 3-5 minutes.

Remove from heat and let cool before using in your favorite stir-fried dishes, or store in the fridge for up to one week.
