Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a healthier option)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 bell pepper, diced (any color)

2 teaspoons chili powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

½ teaspoon oregano

½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

¼ teaspoon black pepper

1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes (with green chilies for extra flavor)

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Heat Up: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent.

Add Garlic & Pepper: Stir in the minced garlic and diced bell pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the peppers soften.

Brown the Meat: Increase the heat to medium-high, add the ground beef (or turkey), and cook until browned. Break it apart with a spatula while it cooks, approximately 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Season the Meat: Lower the heat back to medium. Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to evenly coat the meat with the spices.

Incorporate Tomato Base: Pour in the diced tomatoes (with their juice), tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir all the ingredients together until combined.

Simmer: Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally until the sauce thickens and flavors meld together. Adjust seasoning if needed.

Garnish & Serve: Once done, remove it from the heat. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges for an added zesty flavor.
