Ingredients

2 ribeye steaks (about 1 inch thick)

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 large onion, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes (or fresh tomatoes, diced)

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

Begin by seasoning both sides of the ribeye steaks with salt and black pepper. Let them sit at room temperature for about 15-20 minutes.

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned steaks to the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is achieved. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set aside on a plate, covered with foil to keep warm.

In the same skillet, add the minced garlic, sliced onion, and red bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.

Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, and red pepper flakes, if using. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for about 8-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Return the steaks to the skillet, spooning the sauce and vegetables over them. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, ensuring the steaks are heated through.

Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes.

              - Presentation Tips: Serve the steaks on a warm platter, generously spoon the pizzaiola sauce over the top, and garnish with fresh basil leaves. Optionally, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese for a lovely finishing touch.
