400g spaghetti

1 large lemon (zested and juiced)

1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Salt to taste

Freshly ground black pepper to taste

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup fresh basil, roughly chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions
 

Cook the Spaghetti: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

    Prepare the Lemon Sauce: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.

      Combine and Flavor: Lower the heat and add the reserved lemon juice and zest to the skillet. Stir to combine the flavors, then add the drained spaghetti to the pan, tossing to coat evenly.

        Adjust Consistency: Gradually add some of the reserved pasta water to the skillet until the sauce reaches your desired consistency. Mix well until the spaghetti is well coated.

          Season and Serve: Season the dish with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Remove from heat and fold in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.

            Garnish: Plate the spaghetti and garnish with fresh basil. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zesty kick.
