Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 bell pepper, diced (red or green)

1 cup ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

32 oz frozen tater tots

Cooking spray or olive oil for greasing

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, add a touch of olive oil and sauté the onions and bell pepper until they’re soft and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, approximately 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.

Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes until heated through.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the sloppy joe meat mixture evenly across the bottom.

Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the meat mixture.

Layer the frozen tater tots on top of the cheese, covering it completely.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes | Servings: 6-8
