Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (or turkey)

1 cup onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup green bell pepper, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup tomato sauce

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

12 slider buns

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.

Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet, cooking until softened (about 3-4 minutes).

Stir in the minced garlic, and cook for an additional 1 minute, until fragrant.

Reduce the heat to low, then add the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce (if using), brown sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to your liking. Adjust seasoning, if necessary.

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Slice the slider buns in half and place the bottom halves in a baking dish.

Spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over the bottom halves of the buns, then sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese and cover the dish with aluminum foil.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the buns are warm.

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and then garnish with chopped parsley. Slice into individual sliders.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 35 minutes | Servings: 12 sliders
