Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided

1 large onion, sliced into rings

1 bell pepper (red or green), sliced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, minced

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)

3 green onions, chopped

Cooked rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions

Marinate the Steak: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well to coat and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Heat the Pan: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat until shimmering.

Sear the Steak: Add the marinated steak to the hot skillet in a single layer. Allow it to sear undisturbed for about 2 minutes, then stir-fry until cooked through and browned, about another 2-3 minutes. Transfer the cooked steak to a plate.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Then, add the sliced onion and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Sprinkle with black pepper and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss everything together and stir-fry for another 2 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.

Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles, letting the sizzling aroma bring your meal to life.
