Instructions

Prepare the Cupcake Batter:

    - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with paper liners.

      - In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

        - Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.

          - In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

            - Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

              Bake the Cupcakes:

                - Fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with batter.

                  - Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

                    - Let the cupcakes cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

                      Make the Salted Caramel Sauce:

                        - In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.

                          - Carefully add the butter, stirring until melted and combined.

                            - Gradually pour in the heavy cream while continuing to stir (the mixture may bubble vigorously).

                              - Remove from heat and stir in the sea salt. Let it cool slightly.

                                Prepare the Frosting:

                                  - In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.

                                    - Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until well incorporated.

                                      - Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy and smooth.

                                        Assemble the Cupcakes:

                                          - Once the cupcakes are completely cooled, use a small knife or cupcake corer to remove a small section from the center of each cupcake.

                                            - Fill each cupcake with a spoonful of salted caramel sauce.

                                              - Frost the top of each cupcake with the buttercream frosting using a piping bag or a knife.

                                                - Drizzle additional salted caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with sea salt flakes for garnish.

                                                  Enjoy:

                                                    - Serve the salted caramel cupcakes at room temperature and enjoy the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness!
