Ingredients

For the Salisbury Steak:

1 lb ground beef

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)

For the Gravy:

1 cup beef broth

1/2 cup water

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 medium onion, sliced

1 cup mushrooms, sliced

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Patties:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

      - Form the mixture into 4 equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

        Cook the Patties:

          - Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

            - Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

              Make the Gravy:

                - In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.

                  - Sprinkle the flour over the sautéed vegetables and stir for about 1 minute to create a roux.

                    - Gradually whisk in the beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Continue to stir until the gravy thickens and is smooth.

                      Combine and Serve:

                        - Return the cooked Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spooning the gravy over each patty. Let simmer for 5 minutes to meld the flavors.

                          - Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

                            Enjoy!

                              - Serve the Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes or rice for a true comfort food experience.
