Ingredients

3-4 lbs pork shoulder (also called pork butt)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought, your choice)

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Burger buns or sliders for serving

Coleslaw for topping (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Pork: Pat the pork shoulder dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil all over the meat.

Mix the Seasoning: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper.

Season the Pork: Generously rub the spice mixture on all sides of the pork shoulder, ensuring it's well coated for maximum flavor.

Slow Cook: Place the seasoned pork in a slow cooker. Add chicken broth around the pork.

Cook Low and Slow: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.

Prepare BBQ Sauce: In the last hour of cooking, combine BBQ sauce and apple cider vinegar in a separate bowl. Set aside.

Shred the Pork: Once the cooking time is complete, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat.

Combine with Sauce: Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the reserved BBQ sauce, stirring well to coat.

Serve: Serve the pulled pork on soft burger buns or sliders. Top with coleslaw if desired for an extra crunch.
