At the heart of every great burger is the ground beef, which serves as the primary protein source in Pizza Burgers. The richness of the beef not only provides a satisfying texture but also acts as a canvas for the infusion of flavors. When choosing ground beef, look for a blend with a higher fat content, around 80/20, as this will ensure juicy and flavorful patties. The fat renders during cooking, contributing to the overall taste and moisture of the burger.

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

4 hamburger buns

1 cup marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup sliced pepperoni

1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form them into burger patties.

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

During the last minute of cooking, spoon marinara sauce over each patty and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, allowing it to melt slightly.

Once the cheese is melted, remove the burgers from the heat and place each one on a hamburger bun. Top with sliced pepperoni and olives if using.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves before closing the bun.

Serve immediately with your favorite side, such as fries or a salad.
