Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 medium onion, diced

1 green bell pepper, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices provolone cheese (or Cheez Whiz for a classic twist)

4 hamburger buns

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare Ingredients: Start by gathering all the ingredients. Dice the onion and bell pepper, and mince the garlic.

Cook Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, sauté the diced onion and bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.

Flavor the Mixture: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, ketchup, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to combine and the sauce to thicken slightly.

Melt the Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Place a slice of provolone cheese over the meat mixture in the skillet. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted. For a classic twist, you can replace the provolone with Cheez Whiz.

Prepare the Buns: While the cheese is melting, lightly toast the hamburger buns in a separate pan or under the broiler until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun.

Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the filling, then place the top half of the bun on each. Serve immediately with chips or fries on the side for a hearty meal.
