Ingredients

4 large croissants, torn into bite-sized pieces

6 large eggs

2 cups whole milk

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup cooked and crumbled breakfast sausage (or vegetarian sausage)

1/2 cup diced bell peppers (any color)

1/2 cup diced onion

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

Add the torn croissant pieces to the egg mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Let them soak for about 10 minutes.

In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spread the croissant mixture evenly.

Evenly distribute the cooked sausage, diced bell peppers, and onion over the croissant layer. Press down slightly to mix.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the casserole.

Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap or foil and place it in the refrigerator overnight (or at least for 4 hours).

When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Remove the casserole from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.

Bake uncovered for 35-45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.

Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Garnish with freshly chopped chives or parsley for an added touch.

Prep Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 1 hr (plus overnight soaking) | Servings: 6-8
