Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

1 clove garlic, minced

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup milk

1 large egg

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

8 oz mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon flour

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties, about 1-inch thick.

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, melt the butter and add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until they are browned and soft, about 5-7 minutes.

Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the sauce is smooth and thickens slightly.

Add the dried thyme and parsley to the mushroom gravy; stir well to combine.

Return the patties to the skillet, ensuring they are well coated with the gravy. Allow them to simmer for another 5 minutes.

Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper as needed.
