Before diving into the specifics of the Nutella stuffed donuts recipe, it’s essential to understand the fundamentals of donut making. The art of crafting donuts begins with the dough. Donut dough can vary in texture, but for this recipe, we will focus on a yeast-based dough. Yeast is a crucial ingredient in creating light and fluffy donuts, as it ferments and produces carbon dioxide, which causes the dough to rise. Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp salt

1 cup Nutella

Oil, for frying

Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

In a small bowl, mix the warmed milk and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out circles using a donut cutter or two round cutters (one larger, one smaller) and place them on a floured baking sheet.

Cover the cut donuts with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

In a deep saucepan, heat oil over medium heat (about 350°F/175°C). Carefully drop the donuts into the hot oil, frying them for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.

Use a slotted spoon to remove the donuts and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Once cool enough to handle, use a piping bag fitted with a round tip to fill each donut with Nutella.

Dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy!
