Ingredients

2 (9-ounce) packages of frozen cheese ravioli

1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage

1 small onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce

1 can (15 ounces) ricotta cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add the ground beef or Italian sausage to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Season with oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.

Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to combine the flavors.

In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper.

In a greased 9x13-inch casserole dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom. Place half of the frozen ravioli on top of the sauce.

Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the ravioli, followed by a third of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat the layers with the remaining ravioli, meat sauce, and ricotta mixture. Finish with the remaining marinara sauce.

Top the casserole with Parmesan cheese and the remaining mozzarella cheese to create a bubbly, golden crust.

Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Let the casserole cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.

                        Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 6-8
