Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 cup chocolate chips (dark or milk, as preferred)

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Sea salt for sprinkling on top

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes using an electric mixer.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch.

Mix Dry with Wet: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be cautious not to over-mix.

Fold in Chocolates and Nuts: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed in the dough.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Sprinkle with Sea Salt: Before baking, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each cookie for an extra flavor boost.

Bake the Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers might look a bit underbaked, but they will set as they cool.

Cool Down: Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Enjoy: These cookies are best enjoyed warm, but they store well in an airtight container for up to a week.
