1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon lemon zest (from about 2 lemons)

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Lemon Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon lemon zest

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

    Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

      Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).

        Add Eggs: Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the lemon zest and continue mixing until combined.

          Combine Wet Ingredients: Stir in the fresh lemon juice, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.
