Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup cooked jasmine rice (or sushi rice)

2 green onions, sliced

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (toasted)

1 cup of steamed broccoli (or other preferred vegetable)

Sliced cucumber, for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

Flavor the Beef: Drain any excess fat, if necessary. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, rice vinegar, and black pepper. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly, mixing well to ensure the beef is evenly coated.

Prepare the Rice: While the beef is cooking, prepare the jasmine rice according to package instructions. Fluff the rice with a fork when done.

Serve: In bowls, place a generous scoop of cooked rice as the base. Top with a hearty portion of the ground beef mixture.

Add Toppings: Garnish your bowl with sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a side of steamed broccoli. Add sliced cucumber on the side for a fresh crunch.

Enjoy: Serve immediately, and enjoy this flavorful Korean Ground Beef Bowl!
