Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 large egg

1 cup sliced salami

1 cup sliced provolone cheese

1 cup chopped romaine lettuce

1/2 cup sliced tomatoes

1/4 cup sliced red onion

1/4 cup pepperoncini, sliced

1/4 cup Italian dressing

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; mix well.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg until combined.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, creating a batter.

Spread half of the batter evenly in the greased baking dish, creating the base layer.

Layer the salami and provolone cheese over the batter evenly.

In another bowl, mix the chopped romaine, tomatoes, red onion, pepperoncini, and Italian dressing to create a simple salad.

Spoon the salad mixture over the cheese layer, spreading it evenly.

Pour the remaining batter over the salad layer, smoothing it out gently.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Garnish each square with fresh basil leaves before serving.
