Ingredients

1 lb chicken tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Hot Honey Sauce:

1/2 cup honey

1 tablespoon hot sauce (such as Frank's or Sriracha)

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)

1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken tenders and ensure they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

Prepare the Breading Station: In one shallow dish, combine the flour, salt, and black pepper. In a second dish, place the panko breadcrumbs. Take the marinated chicken tenders from the refrigerator, allowing excess buttermilk to drip off.

Breading the Chicken: Dredge each chicken tender first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess, then dip into the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the breadcrumbs adhere well.

Fry the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the tenders in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan, until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per side. Use a slotted spoon to remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan over low heat, combine honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well and heat until warm, about 3-4 minutes.

Serve: Drizzle the hot honey sauce over the crispy chicken tenders or serve it on the side for dipping. Enjoy your delicious and spicy treat!
