Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 pound ground pork

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 large egg

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups marinara sauce

4 subs or hoagie rolls

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Make the Meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, minced garlic, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

Form the Meatballs: Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Bake the Meatballs: Drizzle the meatballs lightly with olive oil and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.

Heat the Marinara Sauce: While the meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat, allowing it to simmer gently.

Assemble the Subs: Once the meatballs are cooked, toss them in the marinara sauce. Slice the subs or hoagie rolls open, but not all the way through, to create a pocket.

Fill the Subs: Place several meatballs with sauce into each roll, and then layer the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Melt the Cheese: Place the filled subs back on the baking sheet and return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove the meatball subs from the oven, let them cool slightly, and then serve while hot.

                    Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 45 minutes | Servings: 4

                      - Presentation Tips: Serve the meatball subs with a sprinkle of fresh parsley on top and a side of extra marinara for dipping. Enjoy with some crispy potato chips or a simple side salad!
