Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 pound Italian sausage (spicy or mild, based on preference)

1 medium onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice level)

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 loaf sliced rye bread

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook, breaking the meat apart, until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.

Stir in Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes.

Lower the heat and add the softened cream cheese, stirring until smooth and fully combined.

Remove the skillet from heat and fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and incorporated.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Arrange slices of rye bread on a baking sheet. Spoon a generous portion of the meat and cheese mixture onto each slice.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the bread is slightly toasted and the cheese is bubbly.

Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
