Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon sugar

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup diced cooked ham

1 cup whole milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and sugar until combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham until evenly distributed.

In a separate bowl, mix the whole milk and melted butter. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and raise a fork to combine until just incorporated. The dough will be somewhat sticky.

Using a spoon or scoop, drop dollops of the biscuit dough into the prepared baking dish. Make sure to leave some space between each mound.

Pour additional melted butter over the top of the biscuits to allow them to swim and create a golden crust while baking.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.

Optional: Sprinkle the chopped fresh chives over the biscuits just before serving for a pop of color and flavor.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 40 minutes | Servings: 12 biscuits

                    - Presentation Tips: Serve the biscuits warm, directly from the baking dish, with fresh chives sprinkled on top, and a small bowl of extra melted butter on the side for dipping.
