Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed

1/2 cup sliced almonds

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Salt and pepper to taste

Zest of 1 lemon (optional)

Instructions

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the trimmed green beans and blanch them for 3-4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.

Drain the beans and immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Let them cool for about 5 minutes, then drain again and set aside.

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced almonds and toast them for about 2-3 minutes until they are golden brown, stirring often to avoid burning.

Once the almonds are toasted, add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the blanched green beans to the skillet, tossing them gently with the almond-garlic mixture. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the beans to heat through, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Remove from heat and drizzle in the lemon juice, mixing well. If desired, add lemon zest for an extra burst of flavor.

Serve warm, garnished with a sprinkle of extra toasted almonds and lemon zest if using.
