Ingredients

1 cup orzo pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

3 cups vegetable or chicken broth

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for creaminess)

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Zest of 1 lemon (optional, for brightness)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, bring the vegetable or chicken broth to a boil. Add the orzo pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain the orzo and set aside.

In the same saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant but not browned.

Add the drained orzo back to the saucepan. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and heavy cream (if using). Mix well until the cheese has melted and the orzo is well coated.

Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, add lemon zest for a fresh, zesty flavor.

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
