Ingredients

500g fresh button mushrooms, cleaned and stems trimmed

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fresh thyme, leaves removed from stems

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to brown it.

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the mushrooms to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are golden brown and have released their moisture.

Add the chopped parsley, thyme, lemon zest, salt, and pepper to the mushrooms. Stir well to combine and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

If using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms and allow it to melt for 1 minute.

Remove from heat, taste, and adjust seasoning if necessary.

Serve the garlic herb butter mushrooms warm.
