Ingredients

12 oz spaghetti or linguine

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons olive oil

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust for spice preference)

Juice of 1 lemon

Zest of 1 lemon

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

Make the Garlic Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the butter and olive oil. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1–2 minutes, or until fragrant, taking care not to let the garlic brown.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, stirring to coat them in the garlic butter. Cook for about 3–4 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

Combine with Pasta: Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet with the shrimp. Pour in the lemon juice and zest, along with a splash of the reserved pasta water. Toss everything together gently to combine, allowing the pasta to absorb the flavors. If it seems dry, add more pasta water a little at a time.

Season and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in freshly chopped parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
