Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon dried thyme

1 cup frozen peas (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess grease.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, and sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, paprika, salt, black pepper, and thyme. Stir until well mixed.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes evenly across the bottom.

Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the soup mixture. Then, sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top.

Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, soup mixture, and finish with the remaining cheese.

If using, sprinkle frozen peas over the top layer of cheese for added color and texture.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
