Ingredients

1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

1 lb breakfast sausage (bulk or casings removed)

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

6 large eggs

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain the excess grease.

Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage in the skillet. Stir constantly for about 1 minute to cook the flour. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Biscuits: While the gravy is cooking, open the biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters.

Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the biscuit pieces evenly across the bottom. Pour half of the sausage gravy over the biscuits. Repeat the layers with the remaining biscuit pieces and gravy.

Whisk the Eggs: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the casserole.

Bake the Casserole: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Let the casserole cool for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, cut into squares, and serve warm.
