Ingredients

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and black pepper to taste

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 beef cutlets (about 1/2 inch thick)

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Potato Layer: In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Layer the Remaining Ingredients: Add the remaining potato slices, then top with the rest of the cream mixture. Finish with the remaining cheddar cheese. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

Prepare the Beef Cutlets: While the potatoes are baking, rub the beef cutlets with olive oil, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Allow them to marinate for about 15 minutes.

Cook the Cutlets: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef cutlets and sear each side for about 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness (medium-rare or medium is recommended). Remove from heat and let rest.

Finish the Potatoes: After the potatoes have baked for 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle the breadcrumbs evenly over the top. Return to the oven and bake uncovered for an additional 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Serve: Once everything is cooked, allow the scalloped potatoes to cool for about 10 minutes. Cut the beef cutlets and serve alongside a generous portion of scalloped potatoes. Garnish the plate with fresh parsley for an added touch.

                  - Presentation Tips: Serve on a warm plate with the scalloped potatoes on one side and the beef cutlet arranged nicely on the other. Drizzle a little olive oil over the beef for shine and garnish with a sprig of parsley for color.
