Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Gruyère cheese

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

1 tablespoon olive oil

2 tablespoons butter

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Sauté the shrimp: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and half of the butter. Once hot, toss in the shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are just cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Make the garlic cream: In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Carefully pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add cheese and parsley: Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the Gruyère cheese and chopped parsley until the cheese is melted and the mixture is smooth. Squeeze in the lemon juice and mix well.

Combine shrimp and sauce: Add the shrimp back into the skillet, stirring to coat them in the creamy garlic mixture.

Prepare for baking: Transfer the shrimp mixture to a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the top for a nice crunch.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbling.

Serve: Let the gratin cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional chopped parsley and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious Garlic Shrimp Gratin!
