Ingredients

1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup soy sauce

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season them with black pepper. This helps to achieve a good sear.

Make the Sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes until well combined.

Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs to the pan in a single layer—cook for about 5-6 minutes until they are browned on one side.

Flip and Add Sauce: Flip the chicken thighs over, and pour the prepared sauce over them. Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for about 10-12 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken occasionally.

Cook Until Done: Ensure the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and is tender and glazed. If the sauce thickens too much, you can add a splash of water to loosen it.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat, and garnish the chicken with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.

Enjoy: Serve the Brown Sugar Garlic Chicken with steamed rice or your favorite sides to soak up the delicious sauce!
