Ingredients

3-4 lbs pork shoulder (also known as pork butt)

1 can (12 oz) Coca-Cola

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)

1/2 cup onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp apple cider vinegar

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp brown sugar

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp chili powder (optional, for a kick)

8 hamburger buns

Coleslaw (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Pork: Start by trimming any excess fat from the pork shoulder. Cut it into large chunks to help it fit in the crockpot and to ensure even cooking.

Mix the Marinade: In a bowl, combine the Coca-Cola, barbecue sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and chili powder. Stir well to combine.

Cook the Pork: Place the pork shoulder chunks into the bottom of your crockpot. Pour the Coca-Cola mixture over the pork, making sure it's well covered.

Slow Cook: Cover the crockpot with its lid and set it to low heat. Let it cook for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.

Shred the Meat: Once the pork is done cooking, use tongs to carefully remove the pork from the crockpot and transfer it to a large cutting board. Shred the meat using two forks.

Combine with Sauce: Return the shredded pork to the crockpot and stir it into the remaining sauce. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes on low heat to absorb the flavors.

Serve: Toast the hamburger buns if desired. Pile the pulled pork onto each bun and top with coleslaw if you like. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
