Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

¼ tsp salt

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup buttermilk

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Cookie Dough Frosting:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¼ cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tsp vanilla extract

2-3 tbsp milk (as needed)

½ cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.

Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

Cream the Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar with an electric mixer until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips to the batter until evenly distributed.

Fill Cupcake Liners: Use a cookie scoop or spoon to fill each cupcake liner about 2/3 full with the batter.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare Cookie Dough Frosting: In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter and brown sugar until creamy. Mix in the flour and vanilla extract, adding milk as necessary to reach desired consistency. Fold in mini chocolate chips.

Frost: Once the cupcakes are completely cool, generously frost each one with the cookie dough frosting using a piping bag or spatula.

Top with Extra Chips: For added decoration, sprinkle extra mini chocolate chips on top of the frosting.

Prep Time: 20 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12 cupcakes

                            - Presentation Tips: Arrange the cupcakes on a decorative platter and consider adding a few crumbs from extra cookie dough bites around the edges for a fun, dessert shop look!
