Ingredients

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 package (3 oz) cherry gelatin

1 cup boiling water

1/2 cup cold water

1 cup fresh or frozen cherries (pitted and halved)

1/2 cup crushed pineapple, drained

1/2 cup miniature marshmallows

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/2 cup whipped topping (for serving)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, dissolve the cherry gelatin in boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.

Once the gelatin is dissolved, add the cold water and stir well. Let it cool to room temperature.

Incorporate the applesauce into the cooled gelatin mixture, stirring until fully combined.

Gently fold in the cherries, crushed pineapple, miniature marshmallows, and chopped walnuts (if using).

Pour the mixture into a gelatin mold or a 9x9-inch pan.

Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.

Once set, cut into squares (if using a pan) or unmold the gelatin for a mold presentation.

Serve chilled with a dollop of whipped topping on the side or on top of each serving.
