Ingredients

1 lb (450g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese

1 cup (100g) sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup (125g) ricotta cheese

1/4 cup (60ml) marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)

1/4 cup (60g) grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven: Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Prepare the dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

Spread the cheese mixture: In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Spread this mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.

Add the pepperoni: Lay the slices of pepperoni over the cheese mixture, covering as much of the surface as possible. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Roll it up: Starting from one of the longer edges, carefully roll the dough into a log shape. Make sure to roll it tightly to prevent the filling from spilling out. Pinch the seam to seal it.

Slice the rolls: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the rolled dough into 1-inch pieces. You should get around 12-16 rolls, depending on the thickness of your slices.

Arrange and brush: Place the rolls cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a beautiful golden finish. Drizzle a little olive oil over the rolls for added flavor.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden and bubbly.

Serve: Once done, take them out and let them cool slightly. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
