Ingredients

8 oz. penne pasta

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 cups marinara sauce

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make the Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the marinara sauce, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and let simmer for about 5 minutes.

Combine Ingredients: Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet with the sauce, stirring well to coat all the pasta with the sauce mixture.

Add Cheese and Toppings: Lower the heat and stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until they melt and create a creamy sauce. Then, fold in the sliced pepperoni until evenly distributed.

Bake for Extra Cheesy Crust (Optional): For a crispy cheese topping, transfer the pasta mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle additional mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top and bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve: Remove from the oven, allow to cool slightly, and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
