Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup marinara sauce

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 package refrigerated pizza dough

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tablespoon olive oil

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the finely chopped onions and sauté until translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute. Then, add the ground beef, seasoning with Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Combine with Marinara: Once the beef is cooked, stir in the marinara sauce. Allow it to simmer for two minutes, then remove it from heat.

Prepare the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle (approximately 12x18 inches).

Layer Ingredients: Spread the beef mixture evenly over the pizza dough, leaving about an inch border on all sides. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top of the beef.

Roll the Stromboli: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough over the filling to form a log. Pinch the edges to seal, and then tuck the ends under to prevent leaking.

Brush and Score: Place the rolled Stromboli seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the surface with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Use a sharp knife to make a few diagonal slits on top for steam to escape.

Bake: Bake the Stromboli in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Allow the Stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
