Ingredients

1 large head of green cabbage

1 lb ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and pork)

1 cup cooked rice (white or brown)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups tomato sauce (or crushed tomatoes)

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cabbage: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully remove the core from the cabbage head. Place the entire cabbage in the boiling water for about 2-3 minutes or until the leaves soften. Remove and let cool. Once cooled, gently peel off 12-14 leaves, trying to keep them intact. Set aside.

Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Stuff the Leaves: Take one cabbage leaf and place about 2-3 tablespoons of the filling at the base of the leaf. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll it tightly from the base to the tip. Repeat this process with the remaining leaves and filling.

Prepare the Sauce: In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the remaining tomato sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about 10 minutes to blend the flavors.

Assemble the Cabbage Rolls: In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the tomato sauce on the bottom. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish. Pour the remaining sauce over the rolls, ensuring they are well-covered.

Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and the filling is cooked through.

Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your savory stuffed cabbage rolls!
