Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 sachet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

1/4 cup powdered sugar (for icing)

2 tablespoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture and stir well to combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick. Spread the brown sugar evenly over the surface, followed by the remainder of the ground cinnamon. Roll the dough tightly from one long side to the other, forming a log.

Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices (about 12 pieces) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry each doughnut for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm doughnuts.

Serve warm and enjoy the gooey, buttery goodness!
