Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust based on spice preference)

1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Fresh lime wedges for serving

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, combine the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper to create the blackening spice blend.

Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels to ensure they get a nice sear.

Rub the spice blend generously over the shrimp, ensuring they are well coated.

Heat olive oil in a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes without moving them to allow a good sear to develop.

Flip the shrimp and add the butter to the pan. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the shrimp are opaque and cooked through.

Remove the skillet from the heat and squeeze fresh lime juice over the shrimp. Toss to coat.

Serve immediately, garnished with chopped cilantro and additional lime wedges on the side.
