Ingredients

For the Beef Bolognese:

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 medium carrot, diced

1 celery stalk, diced

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 cup beef broth

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

For the Creamy Garlic Butter Spaghetti:

12 oz (340g) spaghetti

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Bolognese:

    - In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

      - Add the chopped onion, and sauté until soft (about 3-4 minutes). Add the minced garlic, diced carrot, and celery, cooking for another 5 minutes until vegetables are tender.

        - Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).

          - Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

            - Reduce heat to low and let it simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce has thickened.

              Cook the Spaghetti:

                - Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente (usually about 8-10 minutes).

                  - Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the spaghetti and set aside.

Make the Creamy Garlic Butter Sauce:

                      - In the same pot used for pasta, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.

                        - Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat and mix in the Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until melted and creamy. (If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached).

                          - Season with salt and pepper.

                            Combine and Serve:

                              - Add the cooked spaghetti to the creamy garlic butter sauce, tossing until well coated.

                                - Serve the spaghetti topped with a generous ladle of Beef Bolognese sauce.

                                  - Garnish with fresh basil and parsley if desired, and extra Parmesan cheese on top.
