Ingredients

4 large croissants

200g sliced ham (preferably honey or smoked)

200g sliced cheese (Gruyère or Swiss work great)

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon honey

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Optional: Fresh chives or parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a small bowl, whisk together the Dijon mustard and honey until well combined.

Slice each croissant in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom.

Spread a thin layer of the mustard-honey mixture on the inner sides of each croissant.

Layer the bottom half of each croissant with a slice of ham followed by a slice of cheese. (Feel free to stack the ham and cheese if you prefer extra filling!)

Place the top half of the croissant over the filling.

Brush the outside of each assembled croissant with the melted butter and sprinkle with black pepper.

Place the croissants on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the croissants are golden brown.

Once out of the oven, let them cool for a minute, then garnish with freshly chopped chives or parsley, if desired.

Serve warm and enjoy the gooey, cheesy goodness of your baked ham and cheese croissants!
