Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking spray

Bang Bang Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

1 teaspoon Sriracha (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon lime juice

1 teaspoon chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Shrimp: In a bowl, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. This tenderizes the shrimp and adds flavor.

Prepare the Coating: In another bowl, mix the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Make sure it’s well combined.

Coat the Shrimp: After the shrimp has marinated, remove them from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each shrimp in the cornmeal mixture, pressing lightly to ensure even coating.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3-5 minutes.

Air Fry the Shrimp: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated shrimp in a single layer (you may need to do this in batches). Spray the tops of the shrimp with cooking spray to promote crispiness. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Bang Bang Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and lime juice until smooth.

Serve: Toss the cooked shrimp in the bang bang sauce or serve the sauce on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped green onions for an added fresh touch.
